Joanna graduated from Queen's University with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy in 1988 and received her Master of Applied Science in Manipulative Physiotherapy at the University of South Australia in 1996. Joanna is certified in Acupuncture by the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada.

Joanna's main clinical interests are in the physiotherapy management of urinary incontinence, postpartum health, lumbopelvic dysfunction and retraining core stability. Other clinical interests include neurodynamics and pain mechanisms. When she is not teaching or seeing patients in the clinic, Joanna is most likely to be found kayaking the shores of Lake Superior or cross-country skiing.
